NCAWA Season 6 Trophy Reveal Event: A Summary

The Nepalese Cricket Association of Western Australia (NCAWA) marked the launch of its Season 6 cricket tournament with a vibrant trophy reveal event on 8th November 2024, gathering representatives from 12 teams, sponsors, media, and key NCAWA members to celebrate the start of an exciting new season. This year’s tournament introduces several exciting features aimed at enhancing the game experience and community involvement.
Hosted by NCAWA Secretary Basanta Khati, with presentations from President Manish Chaudhary and Vice President Pushpamni Bohora, the evening covered the tournament’s key updates, including rule changes, schedules, and sponsor acknowledgments. In a show of gratitude, the NCAWA team recognized the contributions of this year’s title sponsor and supporting partners, whose backing has been invaluable in organizing the event and growing the Nepali cricket community in Perth.
One of the standout features for Season 6 is the introduction of live streaming for all games, allowing fans to catch the action from home. This new addition reflects the committee’s commitment to making cricket more accessible and engaging for the community. To enable this, a live streaming device has been acquired, adding a professional edge to the tournament.
The tournament format includes 11 league games, held every Sunday for 11 weeks, with dedicated days reserved for the semi-finals and finals. Matches will be played with a two-piece, 156-gram white Kookaburra ball on a 60-yard boundary. Three grounds have been secured for the games: Carlisle Reserve (Carlisle), Orelia Oval (Kwinana), and Gilmore Oval (Kwinana), with the convenience of two grounds situated at the same location in Kwinana.
Additional updates for the season include:
- The implementation of a public liability insurance policy, ensuring safety for all involved.
- The completion of the selection committee for the ONSM WA Cricket Team.
- The launch of grant processes, in collaboration with NAWA and NRNA WA, to help fund future cricket activities.
Each team will contribute half of the umpire fees, which range between $80 and $100 per game, underscoring the association’s transparent and community-driven approach to managing tournament expenses. As part of the tournament preparations, each team received six match balls, ensuring they’re well-equipped for competitive play.
Concluding the official program, attendees enjoyed refreshments, sponsored by the event’s food partner, adding a warm and social end to the evening.
Formed in 2019 and officially registered in 2021, the NCAWA continues to grow with dedicated leadership, including President Manish Chaudhary, Secretary Basanta Khati, Vice President Pushpamni Bohora, and Treasurer Nawaraj Bhattarai. As NCAWA heads into Season 6, the team looks forward to another season of passion, competition, and camaraderie, unified by a shared love for cricket and the Nepali community.
